Direct from Service with UK MoD, Leyland DAF T244 4×4 Cargo Truck with Winch Right Hand Drive (RHD) with very low mileage of 47,488km (29507 Miles)
The Leyland DAF 4×4 Truck served as the primary cargo and logistics vehicle of the British Armed forces from the early 1990s until into the 2010s.
The Vehicle has a cargo capacity of 5000kg and is able to accommodate a range of specialist stores such as NATO pallets, containers, fuel pods or seating for 20 fully equipped troops.
This variant is equipped with the Reynolds Boughton centre mounted hydraulic winch (rope removed)
The winch rope can be reeved to the front or the rear of the vehicle and is operated by PTO, being controlled from the drivers position.
There is a rope pre tension setting and the system is extremely capable, having a straight line pull of 5500kg and can be equipped with 75m of cable.
The Leyland DAF T244 can tow trailers with a maximum weight of 5 400 kg and features a cargo body with a removable tailgate, dropsides and tilt.
The cab accommodates the driver plus two passengers. The sleeper cab has space provision for the crew’s kit with the cab roof being strengthened to bear the weight of two men and has provision for a roof hatch over the observer’s platform inside the cab.
Every component on the vehicle was rigorously tested prior to selection for service with the MoD, including the axles which were specially developed at the Leyland Albion plant in Glasgow.
The Leyland truck has assumed many of the tasks undertaken by the previous Bedford M series 4-tonne vehicles and was replaced by the MAN HX60 SV. It can carry 20 troops or 3 standard NATO pallets, and may be encountered with a variety of special bodies.

The vehicle features the Multi Lift Mk4 Load Handling system, which is capable of uplifting 15,000kg of cargo on purpose built flat racks and able to switch between, lift, tip and slide configuration with 3rd service connections for additional hydraulic powered equipment.
Using the appropriate Flat Rack, these vehicles are able to lift, transport and deploy a 20ft ISO container, there are also DROPs bodied containers which can be directly mounted to the vehicle without the use of a Flat Rack.
The vehicles are sold without racks.
